Elizabeth's paintings appear as dreamlike images where magic and reality can meet. Self-portraiture, loss and love always play a key role. By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language, she absorbs the techniques of a traditional painting practice and creates works that have a distinctive and contemporary voice.

In her installations she celebrates the realm of childhood memory. These installations create compositions or settings for the viewer to generate their own tranquil, poetic images of memories that balance between experiences of pleasure and grief.

In her work with children's community groups she applies this poetic sensibility in ways that encourage a childs ability to generate their own sense of self.

Elizabeth Marruffo was born in Mexico currently lives and works in Perth.
